A poignant Canadian romantic drama that explores identity, reconciliation, and the enduring bonds of family.

Beatrice is a Métis storyteller and store clerk whose quiet life is disrupted when her estranged mother returns after years of absence, seeking to mend their fractured relationship. As Beatrice grapples with the emotional fallout of her mother’s reappearance, she finds unexpected solace in a budding romance with Chani, a soulful ranch-hand searching for her birth family.

Set against the backdrop of a Métis Days cultural fair, with traditional fiddling, jig dancing, and dialogue in both English and Michif, the film delves into the long-term effects of a child welfare system that has disproportionately separated Indigenous families. With sun-soaked cinematography and an indie folk soundtrack, Blood Lines offers a tender, layered portrait of healing and belonging.
